		<description>Actually, 1.9 percent of the US workforce will have a tiny bit more takehome pay and a slightly larger earned income tax credit (or reverse tax) to work with.

Considering the increase in many union contracts based on the minimum wage and the number of no hires and layoffs this will cause, not to mention higher prices for everyone, this isn&#039;t exactly an awesome day in American economics.

I like your characterizations regarding those who did and didn&#039;t vote for this. Politically, given the ignorance of the voting public, officials were backed into a corner.

The net effect is higher costs for food at McDonalds, which poor people eat, and kids who do most of the minimum wage jobs get a raise. 

Not a good thing.
